Long before it was an Istanbul suburb, Yeşilköy (then known by its Greek name, San Stefano) was a prominent 19th-century resort town for Istanbul's wealthy Levantine, Greek, and Armenian communities.
Walk down the side streets away from the coast to spot beautifully preserved Ottoman-era wooden mansions (köşks).
Visit the striking historic churches, such as the Yeşilköy Armenian Church (Surp Stepanos) and the Greek Orthodox Church, which still anchor the neighborhood's diverse history.
