Fethiye

🎉Events & Festivals 2026

Fly From Babadağ Mountain Down To Ölüdeniz

Fethiye is globally renowned as one of the absolute best places on earth to go tandem paragliding. You will take a vehicle up the winding roads of Babadağ Mountain to an elevation of nearly 2,000 meters, strap in with a certified pilot, and glide effortlessly over the breathtaking, vibrant blue waters of the Ölüdeniz Blue Lagoon.

Local Tip: Try to book a flight around midday. The overhead sun hits the water at the perfect angle to make the turquoise colors of the lagoon pop brilliantly for photos.

Climb To The Amyntas Rock Tombs

Carved directly into the sheer rock cliffs overlooking the city, these striking Lycian burial chambers date all the way back to the 4th century BC. The largest and most iconic structure is the Tomb of Amyntas, built to resemble the front of a classic Greek temple.

Cost: Around €5 entry fee.

Best Time to Visit: Head up just before dusk. The stone glows deep orange in the setting sun, and you will get a magnificent, panoramic view of Fethiye harbor below.

Explore The Ghost Village Of Kayaköy

Left abandoned after the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey, Kayaköy is a hauntingly beautiful hillside filled with hundreds of roofless, weathering stone houses and two large, empty churches. You can freely hike the winding pathways through the ruins. Afterward, stop at one of the rustic village restaurants at the bottom of the hill for traditional gözleme (savory stuffed Turkish flatbreads).

Hike Through Saklıkent Gorge

Located roughly 45 minutes outside the town center, Saklıkent is one of the deepest canyons in Europe, stretching 18 kilometers through towering rock walls. Visitors enter via a suspended wooden walkway and can wade directly through the icy, rushing glacial waters to explore deep into the gorge.

Get Lost In Paspatur (The Old Town)

When you need a break from the intense afternoon sun, retreat into the narrow, shaded cobblestone streets of Paspatur. This historic heart of Fethiye is packed with ivy-draped alleys, independent boutiques, authentic spice stalls, and colorful pottery workshops.

⚓ The Ultimate "Land + Sea" Weekly Blueprint

To experience Fethiye properly without rushing, a 5 to 7-day stay is highly recommended. This allows you to split your time evenly between land adventures and the region's famous boat culture.

Town Center, History & Paspatur Bazaar

Spend your morning strolling the Fethiye Marina, picking up local saffron and blue eye charms in Paspatur, and enjoying a fresh seafood lunch at the famous covered Fethiye Fish Market (where you buy raw seafood from the central stalls and a surrounding restaurant cooks it for you on the spot). End your day climbing up to the Amyntas Rock Tombs for sunset.

The Blue Lagoon & High-Flying Adventure

Head to Ölüdeniz early. Take a midday tandem paragliding flight from Babadağ Mountain down onto the beach. Spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing in the calm, protected waters of the Ölüdeniz Nature Park Lagoon.

The 12 Islands Boat Cruise

Day 3: Gulf Exploration

Book a classic full-day sailing trip departing directly from Fethiye harbor. You will spend the day island-hopping through the gulf, swimming in secluded spots like Aquarium Bay and Red Island, and enjoying a fresh barbecue lunch served right on the deck.

Canyons and Ruins Safari

Day 4: Inland Wonders

Take a jeep safari or hire a driver to head inland. Start by exploring the ancient Lycian hilltop citadel of Tlos Ruins, cool off under the freezing waters of Saklıkent Gorge, and finish with a fun mud-bath experience nearby.

Ghost Village & Sunset Sundowners

Day 5: History & Relaxation

Take a local dolmuş (public minibus) up to Kayaköy Ghost Village to hike the ruins during the cooler morning hours. In the late afternoon, take a quick water taxi over to Çalış Beach to walk the 5-kilometer promenade and watch a legendary gold-and-pink sunset over the Taurus Mountains.
